Duncan positive as Glen Group eyes growth

GRAHAM Duncan, the former chairman of the collapsed AtlanticTelecom, has said that his new company, Glen Group, is on course toachieve major growth over the next few years.

He said that GBP 300,000 raised last month was already fundingstaff recruitment. The Dalkeith-based IT communications companyposted losses up 10 per cent at GBP 224,000 on flat turnover of GBP182,000 this year, but Duncan said the growth plans were now inplace.

"Building a business from scratch since February 2002 hasn't beeneasy. This year, we have been building our sales teams. Getting theright people and training them up takes time," said Duncan.

Glen, which provides mobile, internet and fixed phone services tosmall and medium-sized companies, only floated on the AlternativeInvestment Market six months ago. Duncan said the period had been oneof "bedding down", with the rise in losses explained by a rise inrecruitment costs.

"Glen's principle asset is its people. We do have great productsand the response from customers has shown that - but it is now aboutgetting our message out to more people," he said.

Two products in place include a customer relationship managementsystem, Maximiser, for small companies and corporates and aningredient tracing system that Duncan said had benefits for all thefood industry.

"We want to be able to provide for all the IT needs of companies, big or small. There is a distinct blurring of technology as theconvergence of IT and telecoms takes place and we want to capitaliseon that."
