The twin brother of Poland's late president Lech Kaczynski has made his first appearance since announcing he would run for office in his brother's place, saying he wants a powerful and just Poland.
Jaroslaw Kaczynski, appeared briefly Thursday at his Law and Justice party headquarters to thank supporters for some 1.6 million signatures of support for him in the presidential race.
A minimum of 100,000 signatures is required of registered candidates.
Poland called early elections June 20 after the incumbent was killed April 10 in a plane crash in Russia.
Kaczynski, a former prime minister, is trailing in the polls behind acting president, Parliament Speaker Bronislaw Komorowski.
